Since I'm switch from canyon fishing to giants now, I need to make a coffin box since my vats, while they are big, aren't long enough for a giant. Tuna bags aren't my thing since they don't really hold ice too long and are good for one fish. With this box I'll be able to limit out and keep all of them on ice (if the Gods are smiling on me). 8'x4'x4', 1/2" AC on the outside, 2" foam board, 1/4" AC inside, then drilling holes throughout the inside plywood and filling any gaps left with expanding foam. Then it's all getting glassed and gel coated. The lid will be 2 pieces so it's easier to remove and also have 2" foam board insulation, along with 3/4" plywood and 1/4" plywood covering the foam. Here it is so far. 2x4s on the top are the makings of the lid and just tacked up there.

Why didn't you just build it out of urethane foam and save the cost of the plywood ? I built one years ago out of 3"roofing insulation it was 8x3x3 bondoed the corners and had it glassed with a chopper gun, held ice fine.

I didn't think anything smaller then a 4x4 was allowed on that boat! That roofing insulation is probably more money then the entire box these days, that stuff has gone through the roof in price.

I have been thinking about building something similar, what you going to line the inside with?
I was thinking about fiberglass liner panel. I am wondering if you grind about 3 in back if you cant glass it together? It seams to me that not letting any of the ice water out is key to keeping the ice. Doubt you can get it on MV but every HD has it. |

I notice that the insulated foam board is pink. Most likely home construction material. I believe that resin will eat the foam. You may have to use epoxy instead of resin.
