I have a hard mounted 3208 TA in the boat and I am trying to reduce the db's. This will be a big job due to the engine bed configuration and I am trying to get a feel for the amount of sound deadening I could hope for. I see roughly 100 db's at cruise (2,200 rpm, 17kts).

I was over 100 dBs when hard mounted and with little sound attenuation. After sealing gaps, adding 2", 2# Soundown and installing soft mounts under the four engine mounts I got it down to 85 dBs at 2400 rpm unloaded, running in the slip. Send me an email at customboatsolutions@gmail.com and I can send some pictures of the modifications my mechanic did to fit the engine mounts if that helps.

Who did you use for the engine mount work? I am going to do the same project this winter to my Duffy 35. She will be hauled at Jabins.

What are you removing and replacing it with? John Vosbury did the work installing the new Volvo D6 for me. I cannot recommend him for a complicated installation like mine was. Jeff at Bayshore would know how to do this. If you have a piece of metal in your hand and want the same thing or slightly modified version of that piece made then Carter Fabrication in Millersville can do the work more quickly and for less.

Hello-From your numerous informative threads you are highly familiar with Sound Down products. If you would not mind answering a question: Looking to purchase and attach a piece of Sound Down approximately 4'x 27" to a fresh flat aluminum hatch we just fabricated.I would like a recommendation as to which adhesive material to use to attach the Sound Down to the aluminum Without having to drill holes. Looked at their website and could not determine which product would be best and how much the material weighed. Thank you in advance for your time. Your Jarvis Newman is beyond gorgeous. Wish we could do what you have done with the sound dampening! Clay
