I picked up this skiff that had been hanging around unfinished for about 10 years. It took me about three weeks to finish. I layed 3/4" coosa, 2 layers glass and glassed in a piece of conduit down port side to carry fuel and power

    That is awesome!

I’m going to do basically the same to this one but with a flush deck up front.

    Nice job!

No, just limber holes in the 2x4s.

Nice job Eric! Where did the hull come from? Looks like the mold they have down at transportation.

Call the MA Environmental Police for a homemade boat inspection. They will come out and issue a HIN #. After that its just like registering any other boat.

The mass environmental came out on a surprise trip the day after I sent in a request for an appointment. He showed up when I had just mixed up a batch of resin so he had to wait til I was done glassing to inspect. I showed him receipts of materials as a home made boat. He gave me an inspection form, not a HIN. I had to go in to Boston to register and get HIN. Although it showed I paid sales tax I was sent up to the tax office to get a tax exempt form, 15 minute walk, then when I got back with the paper saying that I in fact paid taxes I was issued a HIN. However I could not register the boat until I came back with a pencil scratch of the number. You can mail or fax a picture of it then they will mail the registration. PIA, FYI.
In the past the Environmental police would issue the HIN on site, not anymore
