I think any wheel house that has four sides (including roof) would be considered a pilothouse, even if it is really a "dog house" or "phone booth" size. If it has 5 sides it is considered an enclosed wheelhouse/pilot house.

I can't verify this but... second boat I've seen for sale that said Eastern bought the Advance 23 mold to build their Eastern 24. I would call Eastern Boats in NH to confirm. Looks like the same boat but not sure.

East porter I can answer your question because I had the last boat completed as an Advanced 23 built in 2001. The original builder was building these in his barn in Lebanon Maine. Long story but one day I get a call from Eastern Boats and they tell me the builder who had apparently previously worked for them went upside down more than halfway through my build and was out of business. Luckily for me as part Eastern’s deal to buy out Advanced’s molds, outstanding contracts and equipment they were also hiring back the builder and would have him finish my boat as the last 23 Advanced before rebranding it as the Eastern 24. I sold the boat in 2006 to a blue crab fisherman in Georgia and last I heard about two years ago was still working as a crab boat.
