Damn nice set up!
Can anyone please provide comment on this hull.
How does it compare to a BHM or Nauset hull if the same size?
It is not a built down hull design. Skeg boat that pushes easily and is economical but is not on par with the BHM 28 as a work platform.
Looks like twin wet exhaust?? Hmm
It may have had a gas motor at one point. When my brother repowered his 32 Holland he put a "splitter" or "y-pipe" in to separate the 6" exhaust from the new diesel to the 2, 4" exhaust the gas v-8 had.
J.P.O, a member on here has a newer 28 AJ with double the HP that this one has. He can give you his opinion. I have been on his, and two others. The are great boats, yes not the same ride as a BHM, but if your not going to the Canyons in a huge sea state you will be happy.
This boat looks like a good value. That 6BT has lots of life left in it judging by the hours.
The AJ 28 is a built down hull. I did a lot of research on these recently and visited Alan Johnson’s shop. These are great boats. They can take a lot of power for size. I took a ride on one with 440 hp. Cruises at 25knts.
Did Alan say it was built down? Maybe my memory is off but I thought they were pretty flat running. Was that JPO's boat you rode on?
It is a build down hull and per Alan, the lines are very close to a Duffy 35. With the 6LY 440 she will do 35 kts.
Cruises nice from 15kts to 27 kts.
