Looking for some in put from people who have or had a 29 H&H. I'm trying to decide what horse power to go with. Going to put a 6068 John Deere 275 or 300. What type of motor did you have and what was the cruise speed, rpm, fuel consumption, gear ratio, and prop size and pitch. Thanks

    Steve,
Knowing your 29 H&H is a bit "heavy", what do you get for cruise speed/rpms @ 80% engine load, say 2200-2400 rpms ?

i run it around 2000 for 14 knots, wot is 2600 and the few times i've run it there got 24 knots. Fuel burn at 2000 is aprox 8gal/hr, when running in at idle(cutting monks & skates) meter says 1/2 gal hour and i'm doing 4-5 knots.

4 years ago when I was considering a new build 29 H&H I spoke to Terry Hutchins down in Key West FL.
Terry was the "H" in H&H.
When he sold his interest in H&H and retired he built a 29 H&H for himself and brought it to the Keys.
Dragged it down there himself with a truck and roller trailer.
He built it light. 2" square tubing aluminum frame deck with Coosa.
    Has a NEF 450.
He said to me "I can cruise all day every day @ 24 knots" with the 450.
The 29 H&H down in the Keys is a real head turner and conversation starter.

    Hi,

    I have a 29 H&H with a 210 Cummins 6BT.
I get about 13 or 14kts at 2150RPMs and burn about 3 gallons per hour.
Would be nice to have a little more HP.

Those 226 Isuzu are bulletproof engines.

Id' love to see some pictures of Terry Hutchins boat. There was a 29H&H that I used to tie up to and it was huge for a 29. I believe he had a 300 deere, but I dont know what his numbers were.

Bill I know you were looking hard at this hull a while back. Do any current generation diesels fit under the deck with a step up?

Maybe the new Yanmar 6LY 440....BUT that's with a high sheer version 29 H&H 3"....raise the house 3" and you might get it under the deck. Here's a high sheer 29 H&H with raised roof.
