33' Young Brothers Lobster Boat w/ 350 4' traps
Care to guess what kind of speed it does with the 260 Cummins ?
Odd looking wheelhouse.
Ass says new house.
Maybe was a split wheelhouse ?
I'd bte she cruises at 16ish and tops out around 21 with that Cummins.
What would she do with Gurry’s 480
If it's built reasonbly light and you pull that engine back out of the bow I bet you'd be right near 30. My old YB did not like a lot of weight forward, and it still went decent.
Love the YB s
I would have to cut out the windshield and put a 3 window one in. But that wouldn't be high on the priority list.
They are great hulls, I miss my 30 every once in a while, but then I open the fridge on my 34 and grab a cold beer and remember why I moved up
i have a 265 deere in mine ...16 kts and 20 kts wot
Is that even possible? I thought the shaft angle would have to be changed (big job as you know). Right?
It depends on how much exposed shaft there is and what angle it's at. If you could move the engine back and work with the right gear/engine height/engine angle then sure it could work, but as you said a big big job and probably not worth it. It's a pretty boat as is with a great engine. Build a box around the engine down forward and call it good.
we moved main bulkhead fwd almost 4 feet. pulled engine back as far as we could. wheelhouse has engine box and center companionway.also has a little longer wheelhouse. if you cannot live with an engine box ..do not buy a 33 yb. my e box is a bed.
Sell the 350 traps for 25 a piece and you could pay for changing the shaft angle. With a vertical offset gear you may not half to.
The Uncle Henry's ad says 12000 hours.
Dad has 14000 on his 6BT210 and she doesn't miss a beat. I would tell any buyer to squirrel away some money for a repower or rebuild in the end 3 to 5 years.
