During the past several years I've had a Gurnet Point 25 being built by Bob Fuller of South Shore Boatworks. It's the first to have an outboard. A bracket with flotation was constructed for a Yamaha 2oo hp, the lightest motor in that category. Previously, I had a C-Dory 25 Cruiser which I liked except for the miserable pounding with even the slightest chop. Enough was learned in the five years with that boat to warrant a custom built boat of the same size, with a true downeast design (Jamie Lowell), built by a gifted craftsman. It's trailerable, and intended for cruising with my wife and our dog on waters from Maine to the Chesapeake Bay and all the way to the Florida Keys. I love to fish but it's not designed specifically for fishing. This boat is intended to "sleep two, feed four, and drink six". Understandably, with any custom build there are challenges along the way, and this boat has been no different. But with a new (second) trailer to arrive by mid-September we are getting close to sea trials. Here are a few photos: 13652952_987460871382369_7118003319372220538_o.jpg 20170527_151227.jpg IMG-0189.jpg IMG-0180.jpg IMG-0202.jpg unnamed (19).jpg 34889017_1640174076111042_5772031137782169600_o.jpg

Sorry for the minor technical glitches. Here are a couple more photos that might be of interest.

That there is my dream boat. Best of luck with it. Very nice. Bet that is the best 25 OB powered DE design yet. Looks like a hell of a good sea boat for the size.

Only problem, may have to goose her near dock to spin her in tight quarters. That is a DE thing though. Can’t be afraid of throttle used wisely near docks.

Thanks for the advice and kind words. Will surely want to get the feel of the new throttle in wide open spaces.

Lots of talk about outboard powered DE around this site lately. Bob better be ready for some orders.
Nice rig and good luck with it. Post up some performance numbers. I'd like to see how she sits in the water.

Nice job and thanks for the pics. Not everyone can build a small boat with a cabin and make it look that good. House to hull proportions are great....

Thanks to Bob who was able to lower the deck just a tad, I can stand, at 6' 2", at the helm.

Great looking boat and you'll be very happy with that trailer that Gary built you.

Gorgeous boat, looking forward to seeing the seatrial numbers. Is there a guesstimate as to how much she weights?

Yep, I started researching trailers at the beginning and decided on a Loadmaster after seeing yours. But for one reason or another we went with a local outfit and it was a huge problem for Bob and cost us excessive amounts of time and money. Especially for a trailerable lobster boat that will be pulled long distances it's an absolute must to go with the best. Gary is a first-class guy all the way and Loadmaster trailers are second to none.

I guesstimate 8000 lbs. She is solidly built, has AC and a fair amount of teak. Additional weight will be needed in the bow to offset the bracket-mounted outboard. On the other hand, there is no refrigerator, or holding tank (composting head), and although she has an 8 gallon water tank I don't plan to use it.

I also had intrest in the GP25, spoke to Bob a couple of times when your boat was in the mold they were waiting for a plug to be made to fill the keel, I was going to come up and look at it when they pulled it from the mold but schedules never meshed. The boat looks great the custom wheel and woodwork are top notch. Is the hull and topsides gelcoat or painted ( looks like a high gloss). Is that the lightweight inline 4 cylinder 4 stroke yamaha engine, post some performance numbers when you get done sea trialing it. Good luck and safe cruising.

    Thanks, south shore.

The hull and topsides are gelcoat done by Bill Medeiros, Sea Glass Technologies. The Yamaha is a 2016- F200XCA, 25" shaft, 2.8L inline 4 cylinder four stroke with listed weight of 489lbs.

    Absolutely spot on Joe.
    Its a real head turner.
As you know I posted about MJM putting OB's on their DE-ish boats.
I think these guys actually got wind of your boat and also decided to go that route too....

Hinckley Unveils Sport Boats | Hinckley Yachts

    Yours is obviously much nicer!

Since you are the "proband" on this design, I hope the builder and you get a full day together for the sea trial.
    Best of luck..
    Again, nicely done..

Thanks, Doc! Can't compare this boat to a Hinckley but it does have some personal touches. The curved seat and pullout table were my idea but Bob and his team took it to another level. They are meant to be used for working at a laptop (my wife, not me), tinkering with fishing tackle, or serving snacks and beverages.

Anxious to get on the water but, as you can imagine, I'm holding my breath as to how the outboard will function and how the boat will sit in the water.

This is my first boat with radar (Simrad 4G). There's a lot I need to learn about the electronics.
