Hello everyone I am new to Downeast boats and bought my first boat this summer a 1977 Seaway 23’ 90 HP mercury 2 stroke. Very happy with this boat and how it handles. Really was looking for a larger one but figured I have not been in a boat in 25 years I thought it would be smart to stay smaller. So happy with my decision this I a good size for my family.

Nice rig, looks a lil small for a 32’ though

Especially with a 90 HP outboard; has to be a 23' but a nice rig none the less to get back in the game!

Yes my apologies it is a 23’ seaway. I believe the previous owner might have built the wheel house? Does anyone have any idea if these 23’s might have had full wheel houses or is my feeling correct?

Saw that rig for sale for a while up in MA. Glad you are liking it. That is a homemade house, maybe just the sides are... if you find you need more cockpit space outside, you can always cut the cabin short and get new side windows. Not a huge project. I have a similar 22 Novi OB. Full wheelhouse with winter back and cabin door. My wheelhouse is shorter.

Some need more cabin, some more cockpit. I wish I had more of both, but simple is nice for now.

That’s were I picked it up in Quincy Massachusetts. I live on Long Island so over the winter will be cleaning up and fearing out the some fiberglass that was not done so well. May redo the deck and put in a fuel tank below the deck maybe up closer to the hull. Need to do some weight calculations first to see how best to distribute weight. Boat will be used for both fishing and diving need setup some tank holders and may setup Vberth with a bed and head

Yeah I feel the same but for now this is good. Have my eye on a 31’ Downeast lobster boat maybe in a few years after I get more comfortable on the water after 25 years of not piloting a boat.

Owned a couple of old SeaWays. Great boats. Wheelhouse was homemade.

I've owned a 23' seaway with an outboard for about 25 years and still love it . Good luck
