How do they compare to others that typically get sold on here? LD marine, Skurge, etc? Might buy 4 of them......

Hi Guys I used to machine parts for LD until he went of business, these rod holders I'm offering for $100 is the same LD made except my top plate is 316L stainless and the rest is 304L and 18-8 hardware the liner is custom extruded 80 durometer vinyl with UV protection and is press-in not glued like LD, I'm at least $60 cheaper than anybody else, I machine ,weld. polish everything in house that's why I can offer swivel rod holders at this price also soon I'll have 15 degree in 9" and 12" in stock also working on bulkhead swivel rod holders, 12" and 9" 90 degree and 9" and 12" 15 degree and bulkhead swivel rod holder are all $100ea and all will be in stock for February I'll have a website up shortly !!
    Thanks Joe

What did LD use for the plate, tube, and hardware? Your post makes it sound like you are using a different grade of metal - makes me wonder whether you increased the quality some and made the top plate with 316L versus 304L, or if you decreased the quality some and went with 304L/18-8 versus sticking with 316L all around.

I guess I should probably add - if you did go to 304 on the tube when previously it was 316 I get why you would do it and why it might not make a difference, just wondering what you changed. I tried to source 316 tube like that for holders at one point and the cost was outrageous versus 304, while the 316 plate was not adding much cost.

These are good, glad to see someone picking up where they left off. Editing my post again - the bulkhead holders you are building - same as the LD ones with the separate standoffs too? If so that is outstanding - you should sell a lot of them, nobody has built a copy of those since LD went out and they were the best ones on the market.

LD Marine used only 304L stainless I know this because I machined a lot of top plates for LD Marine, I'm using 316L (low carbon) for my top plates, like you said the plate price isn't much different than 304l, 316 tubing is crazy vs 304 tubing and his liners where ultra high molecularly plastic witch sucks in the sunlight as you know

So it sounds like CJ marine holders were 316L and then went to 304 as LD was making them? All mine are CJ Marine and never had a spec of tarnish on them. I believe the tubes were always 304 as mine do spot up over the course of the season.
