Just reached agreement on the new boat. A 2006 Wesmac 42 with Volvo 122p 600hp 3100 hrs. It was built and used as a monkfish boat. Real bare bones rig with super potential. Going do some mechanical stuff this winter down at Forked River Diesel in NJ (John Lanes place, he built our last greenstick mounts and does great work). Going add genny, stick, hydros, extend the split wheelhouse +5 feet and many more items while down with John Lane this winter. Then bring home to Long Island NY where me and Ceasar can take the boat finishes the rest of the way. Hope to be fishing by June. 100% complete over next winter.

Best of luck. Great engine! Keep up with heat exchanger maintenance, that's there biggest flaw. Besides that they like to eat tensioner pulley bearings for some reason so keep one aboard with a new belt, you'll get many 1000's of hours out of a well maintained 122p

TJ .. congrats on the new rig .. I know you and Ceasar will have her 100% in no time. John Lane did the repower on our BHM and has done some boats in the past for me and I cant say enough about how good he was about doing first class work, being on time and being on budget. As a fisherman himself, he understands what it means to have everything right .. congrats again .. looking forward to seeing the progress

No on net reel. The current owner is keeping the monk permit and net reel.

At sea trial we were doing about 17 knots at 1750-1800 RPM.

Is that a typical cruise rpm for that engine? I don't know much about that particular engine you have. When I spoke with Steve, he said they had built some 42's with 580hp Cats, I think they were commercial boats, and he said they topped out at 22 knots.

I can't exactly recall if it is a 2200 or 2300 WOT motor. I think 2200. The current owner claims to cruise about 1700 RPM most of the time.
