Just picked up five gallons of non tox for the boats water systems. It says on the label that it's not intended for use in engines. I'm assuming that it's ok to use on the raw water side of the system and the disclaimer is intended for engine coolant side. I've used it before but never noticed the warning about not using in motors. Are there two types of the -50 F pink stuff?

Not for use in engines as ENGINE COOLANT
Not a valid replacement for the green stuff that tastes like kool-aid
And not the government kind either

Yes two different types. One has alcohol in it.

Theory is that the alcohol attacks and damages o rings and other plastic parts. I try to use the Propylene Glycol type.

One on left ok for engine winterazation. One on right I do my Head, fresh water, wash down pump. One on right I get at Ace hardware on sale in October for 1.50 a gallon. One on left never goes on sale, get case discount at NEMI. You can see fine print on the reddish color one has alcohol.

I assume you meant the one on the left never goes on sale...

So if the theory has any reality, why would one want to use it on FW systems and the like, all of which have o-rings and plastic parts? Is there evidence the theory is nothing more than just that?

Had a friend that put Vodka in his fresh water system.

    Fun times in the spring....

I use compressed air to blow out the freshwater system. I don't like putting that stuff in the freshwater system plus it's a bitch to get rid of the taste in the spring. It says non-toxic but it kills the grass....

    Thanks, edited,

Also don't dump non tox in your tank!!! You'll never get it all out, I have a spot in the line I break, drain tank put pump end of hose in gallon jug and pump through system, it flushes out completely in spring.

We use the Camco brand on everything here at the yard. Never have any issues with rubber breakdown. Never pour straight into you F/W tank and don't forget to bypass and drain the water heater. I winterized boats from Sept. to Dec. if you need any help call or email. Also don't forget to test the freeze point of the engine antifreeze.
