    Hello,

I'm very new to the DE world. My experience is center consoles in the 20+ foot range.

Looking for advice. I am in discussion to buy this 32' Osmond Beal. I have tried to include photos; hope i did it correctly.

The hull left H & H in 1998 and the basic boat was put together by Pen Bay Boat. They installed the original Cummins, shaft, 2 125 tanks, deck, rudder, and exhaust.

Finish was done by original owner.

Recon engine installed in 2008. Currently less than 400 hrs.

The seller and I seem to have a good relationship. Been out on the boat once. He removed the Craigslist listing after he showed it to me. I didn't negotiate price; offered what he was asking; $119k.

Now arranging survey. A friend of mine is boat savvy and has inspected the boat. He approves.
He recommends that I contract with both a boat surveyor and a Cummins surveyor.

I am looking for advice on the boat, and on the process of inspection/buying.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Peter

Welcome. Nice boat. A survey is a very good idea and will determine your next steps. She looks used but not abused.
What CUMMINS does she have? Regardless, 400 hours since 2008? I actually wish it had more. They like to be run and sitting around can do more harm than good.
Any idea on what gear, shaft size and prop in her?
    Good luck!

    XB,
    most likely a 6BTA 5.9 370, same engine I have in the 25 TJ

I chartered a 32 H&H for the day few years back to rule in or rule out consideration.

    The 32 H&H had a 440 Yanmar...cruised nicely at 18-19 knots.....

10 yr old 370, no salt water dripping on it, run every season? Engine innards and hang ons should be fine unless abused.

Should I hire both a boat surveyor and another person to evaluate the engine?

Engine survey not a bad idea if you don’t feel comfortable with the basics. Best would be to get certified Cummins person if they will do. Call Cummins Northeast in Dedham.

You will no doubt need a survey for your insurance and it is in your best interest to have someone look at the engine too.

Looks nice! I wanted a bass boat style before I built my boat. Love the look. Seems like a Beal hull should be a little quicker with that HP no?
