Great memories of Merlin back in the day cruising into Old North Wharf. Can't wait to see it back on the water.

Somehow while they are working hard on the Wesmac and the Flowers they are making progress on MERLIN when weather allows. The recent snow had other ideas but I am impressed with Cape Island Boatworks and Andy's ability to juggle all that he has going on.
The transom is pretty much roughed in on Merlin with a nice big door for the grandkids to come and go and some other friends to just come in.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New year as well.

Congrats on snagging that CX. Sorry we couldn’t have done business but looks like you got what you wanted. And things are moving along nicely.

I’ll have some time next week to drop by Andy’s and check it out

At some point I’ll start a thread on mine. If your back in the water this summer we’ll run ‘em!

When she goes back in, still with her short lobster top and 500 horse under the deck, nothin below up forward and only the center tank 1/2 full?.......

    I like my chances..

You chose right with Grover for the Yanmar. They replaced my 6lp last year. Dante Grover is a straight shooter and his techs are some of the most knowledgeable and experienced Yanmar folks you will find anywhere. Good luck with your resurrection project; looks great so far.

    Xbt,

Just ready your original post and all the replies.
Not sure how I overlooked this "Merlin" thread.
You'll have a beautiful boat when you are done.
    Beautiful lines...
Are you going to close in the stern ? I figure "Yes"

Never really occurred to me to cover her up. She had been wide open to the weather for years when she came to me. Now there is no motor, trans, wiring, electronics, fuel or bad mojo onboard so not much to keep out of the weather. The deck is tarped over to keep the bilge mostly dry and the crew over there have a good eye on her. I'll save my shrink wrap money for a trolling valve thanks.:D

I see that in the new pics.....will be a pretty and fast boat.

A few years back on this forum....wasn't there a 36 NB with a Yanmar CX 500 in it......the boat belonged to a marine bio group or some other entity. Boat was a shade of blue ???

Your keeping the name Merlin right? It fits you and the boat.

Yea mine came to me after years of exposed weather deterioration. Exposure is the killa. And now that's why it's a total rehab. I wouldn't pay to shrink wrap.either. I have canvassed the boat completely to keep moisture away.

Definitely will stay Merlin. I wouldn't think of changing it.

ZF 286 gear is due in very soon. That's all I got but more to follow.
Not in too much of a rush as we still have the Crowley Beal.
    Thanks for asking.

Got a spare prop from a friend who had it left over after he sold his Northern Bay. He had gone to five blades.
I think it will be too much blade area. Numasahake suggested this size but 3 blades.
We'll see but good to have options. prop from Taaffe.jpg prop from Taaffe hub with size.jpg

Holy crap !! I'm just seeing this now. Beautiful, I know you will bring her back to her previous glory. That will be a Labor of love and after seeing your Crowley rebuild i'm sure you can muster that up without a problem. Thanks for the posting and keep em coming when you have time. :)
