It's my last trip onboard this rig and we are doing an 18,000 hr overhaul on one of our generators. Swapping out heads, pistons, liners, fuel pumps, and injectors with rebuilt spares. Dropping one big end bearing and one main bearing for inspection. Re-assemble and off we go. Turbo's are cleaned and balanced every 12,000 hr, which i think is a little silly, should be pushed back to match up with the 18,000 hr overhaul. anyway here are some pictures of whats going on. The engine is a 14 cylinder 9000ish hp turning a 6.72 MW generator.

Heads, connecting rods, big ends, and main bearings are all hydraulically torqued. 17,640psi(1200 bar) to tighten down the heads. for the guys they have never seen it, we use a hydraulic jack and pump it up to a set pressure which actually stretches the bolt. once its stretched you just hand tighten the nut and then relieve the pressure on the pump, voila, everything tight!
