I recently picked up an older basket case Seaway 17. It is a rolled edge skiff design with hard chines, and a small keel. The sole and transom are surprising sound for a 30 year old boat. I've drilled in a few 4" deck plates and was pleased to see 3 full length, full height stringers supporting the deck.
Does anyone have photos of this boats original layout? Would the narrow console and reversible cooler seat have been factory installed? I feel there must be some mahogany side board pieces missing, that the console would have been closer to the starboard gunnel and further aft.
The name plate states hp rating at 55. Perhaps the low rating on this hard chine hull would indicate it was a tiller only boat from the factory, and equipped with bench seats.
What type of cruising speed can I expect with a Yamaha 50 2 stroke?
Thanks Marty D

Nice looking boat there. I don't know cruising speed but 50 hp will make that boat move along plenty fast.
