I am moving in the direction of listing my boat and I figured I would post here as I think there would be interest on this site before I list it with the broker. I am asking $115K

I have a 1987 40 Fortier. It is 1 of 2 built (fortier just built a 42... same hull as mine but they included a pulpit).

Twin 2002 Volvo TAMD 63P-A motors (360 HP) with 900 hours. Zf Transmissions 1.55:1
440 Gal Fuel Tanks
Northern Lights M643-5 Gen Set
2 AC's
2 Heads with Vaccuflush
Furuno NavNet 3d, plotter, radar, fish finder, Robertson AP2 autopilot
EZ2C Enclosure
Inverter
Track Vision Sat TV
Central Vac
Oil Change System
Cockpit Steering Station
Windlass
Cockpit Freezer and Bait Station
Outriggers
Queen Birth forward
2 Bunks port
Bow Dingy Davit and cradle
Lee Swivel Rod Holders, Insulated Fish Box with macerator pump
Canvas Winter cover and pipe frame (Saves on Shrink Wrap)
Spare Props
Air Compressor and Horn
Ladder Back Pompanette Helm Chairs
Edson Wheel

I cruise at 18kts and burn 22-24GPH at that speed (flow scans).
The Bridge Seats 10 people Comfortably

I had the after coolers serviced last summer by niemiec marine (Volvo Dealer), I had the generator out of the boat and overhauled this winter at fairhaven marine (Northern Lights dealer). Replaced Cutlass Bearings and Props Balanced this winter.

We are looking to move up to something bigger.

I was asked for some pics of the Galley, Staterooms and Engine Room. I took these today with my cell phone. IMG_0586.jpg IMG_0585.jpg IMG_0584.jpg IMG_0583.jpg IMG_0581.jpg IMG_0580.jpg IMG_0576.jpg IMG_0577.jpg IMG_0574.jpg

Hi,

Nice boat. It looks like there is a station in the cockpit, is there also a lower helm in the cabin?

Thanks,
g

Hi Gary
There is a cockpit station with a chart plotter. There is no station inside the cabin

If you are sitting at home this weekend looking at boats online you should come to Buzzards Bay and buy mine.

The boat will be in Nantucket this weekend if anyone is walking around the boat basin. I do not have the outriggers on right now as I keep them inside for the winter. They generally make it on the boat in July.

Hi,

Any pics of the saloon?

Is the boat more efficient at lower speeds, say 12 kts?

Thanks,

g

If you pull back to 10-12 kts these motors are unbelievbly efficient. Much better than 1Kt per gallon. I would say closer to 2 but I have never run at that speed long enough to prove it. As you can see from the pics above I was burning 24 Gal and doing 19.4Kts. I did have the current at my back but I generally cruise around 18 burning 22-24. I also keep the boat full of fuel all the time. But to answer you question yes.. at 10-12Kts you will get much better efficiency. I went down and took these pics today of the salon. Photo from last weekend. The outriggers are in my basement. I will be putting them back on for August.
