This is a former workboat. The boat is a 97 or 98 Eastern, full inboard with a keel. The engine is a 454 and the hours are unknown. The boat needs cosmetics and needs to be gone through. Comes with trailer.. The engine was just gone through by 3A marine in hingham and has good compression and runs but needs some work. PM me if you are interested in coming to look at it, I am listing this for a friend. Its located in weymouth MA and the first with cash takes it.

I had one of these with a Yanmar 240....good hull, little sticky in a following sea with hard chines but still very seaworthy. Their finish work not the quality I prefer.........coincidently I also worked for Boston Line and Service Co ( for about 2 minutes!) , to which this boat belonged. I would inspect this boat VERY well as I can assure you it has been ridden hard and put away wet! For $5K though you are not risking much.

Nice project Hull. Anyone know what the beam is? I'm thinking its pretty narrow, like 8' but I could be wrong. I have seen a few others for sale cheap with outboard power but heard they were scary in a following sea, maybe less so with the inboard?

They do all miscellaneous work in Boston Harbor including launch service, stevedoring, line handling, spares shuttling, first responder for oil spills, etc.

2 minutes was all I could handle ( along with many others) !! I will have to decline elaborating!! Sorry!

Beam is 8'4" if I recall correctly. Yes, they are scary in following sea, similar to some of their heritage line JC boats. I was nearly tossed over the rail on a few occasions running quick in a following sea AND I had a full skeg with the inboard.

The following sea issue is always a deal breaker for me... too many days coming back from the nwc of stellwagen in a following sea with white knuckles. The last mile coming into gloucester breakwater with the swell behind you and the tide flowing out is enough for me to make sure I don't make the mistake of buying another boat that sucks in a following sea.

Got got

Bought this boat . Paid a lot more than that doesn't look too much different . Have found a lot of fiberglass issues ex. Scuppers, bulkhead, under rub rails. As I have never had the boat in water yet was wondering if you could tell me what issues they found in the engine , it's small block Chevrolet , runs s good but is very rusty . Please give phone numbers . If possible thank you . Btw want to put a six bt in it ever heard of anybody doing this to an eastern? Thoughts?
