Someone told me once about the "2 Foot Rule" or was it the "2 Foot Curse". It goes something like this- you buy a boat and you're happy for awhile. Then you feel the need to go bigger, so you buy another boat 2 feet longer. That gets old, and you want bigger so you buy a larger boat 2 feet longer etc. etc. etc.

Has this happened to you? What boats? Curious and I think we can bust this myth or confirm it. Gentlemen start your keyboards!:confused::)

when I was
ten I had a 10 ft boat
12 I had a 12 ft boat
14 a 14 ft boat
16 a 16 ft boat
but then when I turned 17 I jumped up to a 25 ft boat I have now and hopefully next year I'll get something in the mid thirty ft range

Confirmed! but it can go both ways over the years due to the affects of life thing and thinking with the wrong?:?: I went from 30 that I purchased for 1K and rebuilt, to finishing off a 35 Duffy Kit. Almost Bought CESHAWNS 40 H&H but came to my senses after relizing the fuel burn and dockage fees when I helped him move it to another port.

I agree! I have a 20 Eastporter that I have not started rebuilding and I am already looking for a 22. Started with a 14 skiff moved to a 17 and now have a 20. I guess for me it is a 3 foot rule............

Hey Deck Boss,
Looking forward to a rebuild thread of your Eastporter. When are you starting the deconstruction phase? Best of luck.

Eastporter,
I have started some of it.I cant remember what pics I sent you of the deconstruction. Most of the deck is out, just need to get the last 3-4 feet of the bow section. the thread will start soon. Need to sit down and down load the pictures and get the thread started. I will also post the pics of my budy's midland I helped rebuild in Woods Hole.

The 35 Duffy and 35 RP are both great boats. Someday when I win the lottery maybe Clark Island can build me one.

did someone say 35 duffy?

the two of you (el mar and eastporter) could split the cost and run it like a time share.

Northern Bay 36 - Modified
Let's see, at 13 it was an 18' skiff. At 19 it was a 28' Northern Bay. At 20 it was the 36' Northern Bay. Hopefully in a year or two the OEM 42. Not quite the 2 foot blues, but a different way to play on the bay.

If you take the "romance" out of a new or different bigger boat ("guys like different")( no different with their boats LOL)
then for me it boils down to what fits your needs.

I went from a 25 Betram twin gas, to a 28 Betram twin gas to now the 31 Blackfin twin diesel.

The error in judgement I made was after owning the 28 Betram for 17 years and repowering the boat I KNEW I wanted a DE and SWORE I'd never own a twin engined boat again. "2 of EVERYTHING ETC."

OK, I get suckered in to wanting bigger with diesels and fall in love with the Blackfin. (the old song, "When a man loves a woman (boat)" well I went against my better judgement.

OK, now the BF is turnkey and worth WAY $more$ to me than anyone else. I want to go smaller (28-30) and go DE single screw keel boat.

Now what do I do????? LOL????????????????????????
