I'm not sure what it's called but it's pretty much the same tool beyond toms is using. I borrow it from my job.

Was extra footing weight added at the base or did the 2 x stock on end work well with the wind load.

2x4's were fine, it was only up for about 6 months through the winter. Around the base everything was bolted to 4x4's then it was all strapped down to the boat when ever there would be weather. A freind took some of it after I was done and that part stayed up for 3 years with no issues.

Just use conduit couplings. Set screw with a hex head so u can really tighten them down . You can buy manufactured bends at your local electric supply house
