Sold- 20' Eastporter (Rebuilt 2011) 22' Pearson Ensign
If he's willing to give it to charity for free- maybe you can make a case that you're worthy of it because you will rebuild it and give it a second life.

Lol. That boat has been sitting there for years. He probably is one of those "idiots" who thinks his rotten old eastporter is worth 5k. It would be a nice project but it's not worth much the way it sits.

I met with the guy. He is a frustrated seller due to the all the missed appointments. I bet you can get it for $1500-$2000

He's changed the title to his ad: "20' eastporter lobster boat (off the market ) too many idiots - $1 (west sayvill e)"

Why not simply delete the ad? Seems like something an idiot might do.

I think it is worth it. It floats the way it is. New boats depreciate more than 2k a year. Take on one project at a time and your golden.

He said he wanted it out of his drive way so I emailed him saying if the hull will float I'll fix it up and give him $1,000.00 site unseen thinking he would come back with a counter offer, but nothing ohh well

From his ad "...I have to clean up this boat again and try to start this motor again. Make me an offer and get this out of my driveway, this is the last time I will post this boat, from here it goes onto one of those on line charity sites. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

Well perhaps if he actually cleaned up the boat and TRIED to start the motor again, and got the garbage off the topside (who knows what the inside looks like?), maybe even put a coat of wax on it, he might get $2,500.

As it sits, I would offer him half that, and that's being generous.

It's in our nature to negotiate. If it was $1 we would offer .50 cents.

The oldtimer I bought my present boat from was blunt to the point "that if I wanted the boat I was going to pay his price", and when I told the surveyor the price, he looked me in the eye and said to write the check,
I think along the line that I own it, "IF" you want to buy it, then at least offer something close. Other wise you are wasting your time. I have given things away, instead of selling for a low price, because I can.
