here is some pictures of my David J Smith Center console being built back in 2004. We were unable to make a trip to see the boat during the build because it was a 17 hour drive but we did get about 200 pictures of our boat being build along with a little bigger lobster boat that was being build around the same time.

finnish and pick up, my dad and brother went to Nova Scotia to pick it up, i could not go because i was playing high school hockey and it was mid season. but they took the ferry across the bay of fundy and were in around 20+ ft seas with the boat and truck strapped down inside the ferry.

Do the trim tabs help? Is cruise speed at 4,000 rpms? Thanks

yea the trim tabs seem to help a lot i can pick up the front of the boat and get more speed out of it or put the bow down and get a much softer ride, along with keeping the level while cruising with all the weight on one side, and yea cruise speed is at 4000 rpms

@22novicc...I REALLY like your console. I've got a Leblanc 17 myself and I've been trying to locate a console for her and the two that have caught my eye...well, the builders just don't want to build them!

I am thinking of having my boat builder buddy build me something custom and the shape of yours is exactly what I want...of course may have to modified some to accommodate my boat.

Is the gas tank internal to the console?

Can you let me know the dimensions of your console (particularly wheel height, total height, width, and length?

length= 50"
width= 40" at the base and 38 at the top
total height= 46"
the seat on the front is 20" high and 18" on the top of the seat
im not sure of the wheel height but it comes up 30" to where the angled part that the wheel in on starts and that part is 12"
the part with the the electronics is 10" and the top is 12"

i have it drawn out with the the dimensions that we faxed to David when the boat was build i just cant figure out how to get that picture on my computer

@22 novi...thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. I wanted to give the business to a small boat builder but nobody just wants to make small fiberglass parts I think (too much prep time to make any money).

I'd been interested in the David Smith's for a while...and then I found the Leblancs (in Maine, no less) and I was sold. There's a David Smith wheelhouse config at another yacht club in Dorchester, its beautiful.

Do you have any more pictures of the console as finished and installed? Curious to see how they vented it since the gas tank is mounted internally (and likewise how the fuel tank is installed) and where the fuel fill is located. Is there anything that you'd change about it? I am going for the real simple look (like when you took delivery, big oversized console, no T-top.).

ill be at the boat on sunday i can take more pictures then, my dad and i installed the fuel tank ourselves, we put rubber mats underneath in and then we used ratchet straps to hold it in place, we put the fill and a vent right in the side of the console.

the lobster boat was made from the same 22ft mold but i believe it was stretched to 25 ft

Awesome, man sounds great. Take a picture of the inside too, very curious to see that as well.

Weather's supposed to be nice the weekend considering it hasn't been that great from September onward.
