I just purchased another 22 Sisu, this one is a cuddy and has a rebuilt 305 v8. The owner of the boat claims 15 knot cruise? Seems a little slow? I know there not fast boats but that's a lot of hp for a little boat. Anyway we are considering converting it to an outboard or maybe leaving the ib in there, whitch do you guys think would be a more marketable way to go?

Also somewhere on here someone put lifting rails on a 22, do they give much more performance? The decks in this boat are solid so we won't be tearing them up so it would either be a plexus job or glass on wood rails if we did install them.

I will post some pictures when I get back from vacation.

An outboard may be beneficial skipping around the bay with al our shallow areas etc...

Below is a link to my SISU refit. The early posts in the thread show the lifting rails. Our decks were solid and I did not want to replace them. We did screw and glue with Plexus. The old rails were too high and not large enough. The boat would roll a lot before they grabbed and they did not grab too well due to their small size. The new rails were a big improvement. We placed them about 6" below the water later. The boat comes up on a plan faster and they eliminated all of the roll. The real bonus was the new rails eliminated the keel walking completely in a following sea. I have a 115HP 4S on my boat so it still rides a little bow up. I think your boat will perform even better since you have the weight of the inboard up forward. Feel free to ask any questions or PM me about the rails.

Thanks guys. JK, what kind of speeds are you getting with the 115hp? I was thinking of putting on a 150 4 stroke. Also how wide are the new rails? Do you have any pictures of the keel or how they reinforced the transome for the outboard?

Tunaorlater I just finished a sisu 22. I put a full transom in and a bracket. I had a Honda 90 already so I put that on. Haven't put in water yet so not sure of speed. I have pics somewhere.

I have a full swim platform stainless marine bracket in my garage so I am very curious on how your boat runs. Please let me know.

Tunalator I can run at 18K all day. At WOT I hit 25K. I will measure the rails and take a keel photo tomorrow. When I bought my boat the transom had already been replaced. I put 60lbs of lead in the anchor locker to counter balance the engine. I also changed to a four blade prop which help maneuverability at low speeds and helped lower my rpm's.
