After speaking with a builder in Maine this year about a slightly larger OB downeast, I would say 27k for hull and top kit and 80k plus finished without power, minimal finish that is.
edited post. Checked my notes from that conversation. I was off due to pricing of an option on the build I was contemplating. It was 27k for kit. Totally different hull though. Much bigger beam and 2 more feet, greater displacement and hull depth too. The Calvin Beal 23 is the best 23 foot outboard hull out there if you ask me!!!
If the hull and top are 25K, let's say a 150 Honda is 20K fully rigged and ready to roll. Then depending on electronics, and other finish options you could be 5K to more than 20K so a finished 23 Crowley could be between 50K and 65K+
I’ve wanted one of these for several years now and considered getting kit to finish. This one popped up on the ads section right at the perfect time for me so I went to look at it last week and left a deposit with the seller. Now just waiting on a survey for the bank scheduled for this Friday. The boat is really clean and has been set up really nicely. It was originally from Chatham and the seller bought it back in 2007 where it has since resided in Center Moriches. I am excited to bring it back to Cape Cod and get it out on the fishing grounds up here again. I considered the price reasonable with respect to the setup and rareness of the hull and the convienence of a purchase which is ready to use. I also searched and found an ad for a bass boat 23 Crowley which was a 1997 hull and not as updated which listed for $39k and I assume sold somewhere close to that. I’ll keep you guys posted as I hopefully take delivery in the next 2 weeks. Thanks to eastporter for posting the ad.
Congrats! She's a pretty gal and as far as outboard powered boats with a house go, remains one of my favorites. Very nice package.
Very nice pickup capeCodNorton, i absolutely love mine. I see you have spray rails on it which is a HUGE plus, i did one and half seasons without and one with spray rails and holy smokes what a difference. A little misinformation in this thread, the finished 23 without power was 45K. After going through the features with jim, there really wasn't much more i could add. I did want the full starboard house wall with window which added 500 bucks. One popped up used in good condition for a good amount less and i jumped on that one, since it already had hauler, davit and other things which would have cost me. Sad to see what i think is one of the only other crowley 23's on long island ny going back north. Shoot me any pm's if you have questions, since i've already replaced my tank (pre ethanol fiberglass gasoline tank, factored into price) and added some in floor storage, i'm sure your layout below deck will be the same as mine. Good luck and enjoy man, it's gotta be one of the sweetest and best sea eating boats for the 23 foot club. And be sure to post more pics, i love getting ideas from other layouts.
