26' Calvin Beal

Picked her up last Monday in MDI. Will be a month or so until I can start up on her. Planning to adjust bunks/cabinets down in cabin a bit for head port side and lengthened bunk to electronics locker starboard side. Building in house walls to about 5' from bulkhead, with a little L shape opposite of helm seat pedestal mounted. House will have a partial half back.

Nice project! How does this hull compare to your father's 26 Coombs Cove? Any particular reason you chose this hull?

Undecided at this point. Bracket install and costs are a pain, but it is tough to beat the full transom. If I can come up with a good well design, I may go that route as well.

Thanks, Vin! This hull would fit in the anchor locker of the 26' Coombs lol. Going for a similar layout, so it'll be interesting to see side by side/get a feel for each, once completed.

Yessir. It is tough to sum it all up, great times on that boat. Room and shelter were definite needs. Although, tent on the back deck with queen size air mattress wasn't a terrible setup. But not exactly cutting it anymore.

Previous owners, who acquired it from original owner I believe, did some great work on the boat. Windshield refinish, hardtop, dash, deck supports, etc. They know a thing or two about building downeast boats, you could say lol.

I was browsing some build pics of that Holland not too long ago. Great setup. Perfect example of what I was envisioning.

The proportions look similar to my 25-TJ. Which I guess would make sense since that is a Calvin beal design

I believe some of the t jason 25 (Terry J ) and the Northern bay 25 (John H) which i believe is close to the same hull as this share the the top mold on some of their builds. This one was laid up later and has a little more crown to the front window and a molded wheelhouse top with some overhang. All good looking just a little improvment on it. Remember it for sale a time back still in layup pieces someone got a good start on it.
