27 Nauset

Can anyone give me some insight on the Nauset 27, the boat is a 1980. Pro, Cons. Thanks in advance.

I got lit up on another forum for giving my opinion on this boat once, but here it is again.

I fished an 80's vintage Nauset 27 as a mate in the late 80's. We ran from Cape Cod to the backside of Nantucket. I dreaded the rides home in the sw wind across the Sound. The boat was very squirrely and to me, it was unpredictable. I've fished some squirrely boats, the JC 31 and Fortier 26 to name two that are often bemoaned for their quartering sea abilities (or lack thereof). I found the Nauset 27 to be worse than those two by a lot. The Nauset 28 is the Harris 28 hull I was told and that is a very good hull.

And Monomoy Point with a heavy tide and some wind was a nightmare.

Anyways, just my opinion. Seatrial on a shitty day and decide for yourself ultimately. Good luck.
