Hey everyone, was looking into getting one of these two hulls. I was wondering if anyone knows of any up for sale. Preferably looking for something with a step up instead of having an engine box. It will be used for commercial fishing.....

If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Or even if anyone knows of any builders etc. Also, info on kit boats would be great as well.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

These guys know Duffys as well as anyone: Boat Design - Build - Repair | Massachusetts | Cape Island Boats and they are on this forum. Steve Law is building the 28 BHM now undwr the name Seaworthy Marine, same hull new name.

I hada 28 BHM with a 6bt cummins and a step up. The head room was only 5'10". The Duffy would be much better setup with no box.

Me too but mostly bottom longlining, My boat has 2 manual "bandit" reels and a 4 mile longline reel with an independant power unit, ( 9hp honda),which is "brand new" might I add!
Fishbox holds 2000# +,- depending on the trip duration....Jo

Jofishes, wow you got some beautiful tile fish...is that picture recent???
That was last summer during the 300# trip limit.
These are from this year (last month):)
They are bigger, more plentiful and HUNGRY! They (NMFS) are increasing our "TAC" for 2013. That's why I need a BIGGER boat!
I think this boat might work for our "Bermudian"? friend!

The Harris is 28-30 feet.I do think it needs to be repowered.Check it out, drive down on to the base down south side.Pass the lawnmower guy and my little boat.Drive towards the puplic dock, youll see her behind the fence. She is a hardcore little fishin machine.White hull with a red bottom.good luck.If you want call me and Ill show you the boat.505-5084.There were some good deals going on here you know.Stu had his 34 Duffy forsale and No problem was sold ,another 34 Duffy. One thing Ive found with buying here is,Dont wait for it to be advertised.Knock on those doors!

I’ve known Steve Law for 3 decades, and help market his excellent 28’ SeaWorthy. Since 2000, Steve has produced about 52 boats. Very few ever come back on the market, and the majority are powered with 315 Yanmars. Folks love them for their speed (20mph cruise, 30mph on the pins), and consistent burn rate of 5-6gph.

Only one SeaWorthy has been built with a step-up bridge deck, and that was a ‘bass boat’ model with soft top. Another was finished by the owner, who installed a 315 Yanmar, and raised the deck to flush. However, the headroom dropped to 6’. This one may be coming on the market soon.

These are the only BHM/SeaWorthys I know of for sale at the moment:

o 2006 28’ SeaWorthy – 315 Yanmar – 300+ hrs - Long Island - $99k
o 2005 28’ SeaWorthy – 370 Yanmar – 600+ hrs – Long Island - $112k
o 2001 28’ SeaWorthy – 300 Yanmar – 900+ hrs – Long Island - $70k
o 2001 28’ SeaWorthy – 325 Cat – 1200+ hrs – NC - $79k
o 1987 28’ BHM – 318 Chrysler – 200hrs – Southern Maine - $56k (cruiser design)
o 1993 28’ BHM – Rebuilt 220 Volvo – Maine - $60k (cruiser design)

· 1998 28’ Crowley-Beal – 300 Peninsular – 1100+ hrs – Maine - $61k (enginebox extends only 14†back from bulkhead) - $61k
· 2005 28’ Crowley-Beal – 315 Yanmar – 500+ hrs – NH - $65k (Steve’s personal boat)
· 2006 28’ T-Jason – 240 Yanmar – 200+ hrs – MA - $69k (flush deck)
· 2006 28’ AJ – 240 Yanmar – 800+ hrs – MA - $109K (flush deck)

Let me know if I can help --Buzz

Hey Larry
A while back I saw a 28 listed that had no engine box but gas motor instead of diesel, I'm assuming Steve built that one ?
If anyone saw the listing I believe it was in Maine and the pic was of it sitting on its keel leaning against a dock (red neck haul out )

Larry,

It's Anthony. Glad you found your way to this forum;). I thought Bill's boat would have been sold by now with the activity he's had on it.

Hey Ronnie, The boat you're referring to was built by Steve, but the owner did the engine installation. The reason it was a flush deck was because the entire engine was pushed forward into the cabin. He liked the weight distribution. The boat was sold and went down east.

Anthony, you're right. There's been a ton of activity, and offers in the eighties, but no one has yet stepped up to the plate. Spiraling fuel prices aren't helping...
