28 ft AJ

Can anyone tell me how these stack up to other DE 28-30 ft boats ?
They look pretty light ?

AJ-28 in my opinion is the niciest 28 around for recreational/part time commercial uses. A few reasons 1. Pretty deep cockpit (some 28's are uncomfortably shallow) 2. With 315 yanmar you just have a low "step on" engine box which allows for the centerline companionway. 3. A.Johnson has molds for most components so great finish down below 4. Easy through the water. I like the looks of some of the BHM 28's too, they have more of a commercial look which is nice.

I agree with FVSD. No experience on the water in one, but have looked at them at the dock. I like the freeboard that they have. It allows you to put a fairly heavy load on the deck and not have water coming in the scuppers. They are smaller than the BHM, but then again almost everything under 30 looks smaller than the 28 BHM
