curious if you kept a running tab on your labor hours ?
I have never worked with metal/welding.
I can imagine how many gash/nicks etc. your body has had putting this boat together.
Great lines and I like the extrusions on the front windshield on either side of center window.

@BillD - I tried to keep a log of hours worked - probably was successful up to the first 40 or so, then lost track and stopped trying to keep track; it wasn’t making it any more enjoyable - as I was putting goals on individual days and disappointed when I didn’t achieve what I thought I should have - it also caused me to rush things that I shouldn’t have…and then the re-do costing more time...I am sure we’ve all been there.
i find that I am enjoying figuring little jobs more now. It was a Long answer - I know; I probably didn’t spend as much time on it as some would think and more than I would like to admit.
a couple to a few hrs a day- often feels like I have as much time setting tools up as I do breaking them down.

edit: to address the other part of your comment, yes plenty of scrapes, bangs and bruises…most look more menacing than they were. The biggest pain in the butt were the burns. When it was hot in the summer, I often welded in shorts and a tee shirt, the sparks would land in the weirdest of places…from inside your boot to in your ear, down your shirt etc. Couple times - I put my bare hand on freshly welded metal to pull myself up, that really gets your attention, other times I’ve set my clothes on fire, but it’s all part of the fun

Too windy to weld today… spent a couple hrs this afternoon dry fitting deck down below…happy feet going forward down there


Above, looking down below throught the hatch - will make the top of the hatch tri-fold.
below, not going to wrap pipe around the back…will terminate there (clean up tacks and weld nicely on a less windy day) terminating there will allow me to weld pole holders across back to a flat surface, much easier



Below, only two more “major pieces“ along side, must be getting closer…

cut in opening in fwd bulkhead and ringed it with flat stock - I will not be storing anchor line there - so I prefer the area be better ventilated

Strange question but curious... is this boat going to be considered "homemade" with a title and registration/HIN given by Environmental Police? If so, will it be insured as such or will Jesse Lowell give you a title as a kit boat?

It really means a lot, especially from someone as talented as yourself, I enjoy your threads and borrow some of your ideas. thank you, and everyone else for the kind words of encouragement. posting the pictures, and knowing that they will be scrutinized, has made me re-do what sometimes doesn’t look so pretty (even though it is most times just cosmetic).
As far as documentation goes, we will cross that bridge…I am more concerned with what is in front of me right now (almost the ostrich approach, lol) but I know it’s something that needs to be addressed.
As far as my day job goes, I’m not a data analyst and I don’t own a recycling plant…but I did have a laugh over both guesses … for now, I am a single mother of two…keep the guesses coming, lol

@fordy, That is funny. Just came in from tinkering this afternoon It may be hard to see in some of the pics but, I added the 1/2 pipe on top for a wash rail (?) runner to help keep the water shedding overboard.
outside edge will be solid weld, inside is a stitch job.
I made the skirt larger than Jesse had planned for because I want to run my chases up behind it and to have better access...should be easier than it being below deck.
Paint-wise. First the boat will get another sanding, sand blasted (sweep) is better but sanding will be fine. 1st a self etching primer, then probably use amercoat 235 … few coats, then 450h as the finish. They are two part paints that we have used on all of the bigger boats we had - good durable product.
I like the names, and will keep running them by the family…eventually we will find a good fit

unfortunately, do to space, had the deck plates stacked between the wall and The port side of the boat (maybe 12-18” clearance, depending on where you’re at). i tried to take pictures as I it was progressing but …I’ll try to describe what is going on (sorry if they are out of order)
1st picks we’re fairly straight up - with the ability to move it slightly aft…


Abiove, this is the starboard deck plate coming up, at this point, I am going to roll it the wrong way, that [email protected]#&$# moment didn’t happen yet

It IS in fact all about your trade skills ( newly acquired - doubtful or years of metal fab - likely ) working plate, bar and tube...............tweaking it into a form that most of us typically build in glass, resin, composites and wood !
