Weird hull extensions on that Repco...
I know a number of folks are making their DEs hard chined - which kind of makes them look and act like a traditional deadrise boat - but I've never seen hull extensions like the ones on the boat in the vid. I've seen some that go all the way to the transom, but not any that ended so far before it. Seems odd that on this boat, since Repco's 30s are so narrow at the transom, they didn't run the extensions all the way aft.
That Repco, the "Elizabeth", sure does run nice, flat and fast. Given that it is supposedly pushed by 1,100 HP, it's clearly way, way outside it's efficiency envelope.
I'm still very interested in learning how fast you can push a stock Repco 30 before it becomes inefficient or misbehaves. It's pretty easy to build a reliable big block putting out 400 hp that you can rack up some hours on. Wondering what a Repco 30 would do with 400 hp or if the boat will be still too much in the water and not on it.
