Woundup and DWorks, how much headroom is in your 30 young brothers? Both at the helm and below? I'm 5'11", can I standup down below? Anything to look out for when looking at the boat?

Thanks
Joe

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately i don't get up that way too often. I also noticed the lack of an engine box also, and wondered the same thing. How does yours handle a following sea? stern quartering sea? is it a wet boat? looks easy enough to single hand.

after seeing that picture of the sopwith camel (bow and most of the boat out of the water), i'm surprised she's bow heavy :) how much wood is there in the cabin roof? i looked at a 32 holland that needed a complete topside (cap, wheel house, fordeck, everything was rotted through and through), and i'm hoping that the 30 young's don't have as much wood.

offshore, I believe that the young brothers stick built all their boats, so its going to be all wood. Depending on how well the boat was cared for will dictate how much rot you find.

woundup, slow process but currently cutting all the washboard pieces. Over the last few days we cut and installed the beams for the fordeck. Then i think the plan is to make up a new main bulkhead so that we can remove the old one.
No sense doing all the work to rebuild it and leave a shitty old bulkhead in there.

Guys

Does the 30 run bow high? How's the visibility when running? Also, how do they sit on the hook or drift?

thanks,
Joe

mine was used for lobstering so she sat good on the mooring and was flat running at 18knt cruse it sucked in rough weather but most small boats do
