OK I'll probably get blasted for this question, but if I were looking for a used single engine diesel IB downeast boat in the 31-35 range that cruises 20knts plus, what, if any manufacturers would they be? I put this in the wrong forum, but I'm not able to move it, or delete it so I'll post iw where it should be, sorry.

Almost all the hulls finished today have the ability to do 20 knots, some easier then others. Depends on how deep your pockets are. We need a little more info on what your needs in a boat are, the more that goes in the slower the boat will be.

OK here's where you'll definetly say no way. We need a cabin that sleeps at least 3 with a Cruisair unit, no flybridge models unless it has a helm in the cabin, we'd like to have a generator but that is not a must have. Your probably thinking OK so far, here's where we'll loose it, $110k max that's our ceiling price, the route we will most likely take is an Express like a 31 Blackfin, 34 Pursuit or 32 Topaz. and we can find many super nice boats under that price. With fuel being where it is, I just wanted to see if there were any single engine DE's or even a single engine diesel IB, modified or deep V. it doesn't have tobe a DE hull. but I can't find any boats like that either. they may not be out there, and that's fine, I just want to make sure. If we go with our Express plan which is most likely what we'll do, we'll pick up a small CC to run around inshore. and save on fuel that way, which is what alot of guys do.

That Evans is a cool looking boat. What's the deal with that keel? Long exposed steel "beam" connecting to bottom of rudder post. Looks like trouble to me.

Ron,
You are chasing a ghost. Figure 18knots max in a DE to your specs.:(
Price is another issue !:D

I think your right Bill, I've gotten some great information and this has been a major learning experience for the DE boats, which I have never pursued before. actually there have been some pretty close to our needs, if we don't find one to fit close enough this information will serve me well perhaps down the road a bit when I may have more money to spend.
right now we were able to get out of our broker contract early, so it's time to finish up the sale of our boat, it just isn't sold until the money is in my hands. then I won't mind jumping in a car for a ride to see some of the boats we like., you know what we'd like to see first, even if shrink wrapped. and there are 3 or 4 boats on the way we'd like to check out, then maybe it's time to get on a plane and head a bit south and vacation along with check some more boats out.

I hate to say it.....a boat is only worth what someone is willing to pay today. They are not worth half of what you guys are saying. This guy could very well find a hh or Duffy that is being fire sealed especially in this economy...my fifteen year old nb isn't worth 3/4 of what it should be even after I just repowered it...good luck bud you,ll catch that unicorn. It's out there

There is a nice 36 ft twin engine Harris express (dark color in NC) well under your price range on Mid coast yacht sales. There are actually 2 express boats on their list. One is charter the other with dark color might be private use. The late Greg Beacher, famous Montauk Giant Tuna fisherman, had similar Hull built by Runaway in NJ. He fished in all kinds of weather.
