Called the seller...Volvo TAMD 60B. 12knot's crusing...15 WOT. I just bought a boat and this is a bit slow for my liking but for some reason, maybe its the price, its peaked my interest. A lot of boat for the $$.
I had one. Same model as that w/ 200 Volvo TAMD 41A which smoked terribly. Later switched to a TAMD P....new animal ...still slow but minimal smoke.
The boat is well built but had a severe blister problem. The builder finally paid for the repair. Some cracking in the gelcoat around the radius of the corners. Very slow boat. No more than 19-20" diameter prop will fit so if you put a 300 hp engine you don't gain much in speed.
My boat was built in Bayfield Canada in 1988.
It was Royall Lowell's last design.
That Blue Seas might be the best deal on wheels right now.
If anyone is interested in a solid, well built boat and is not opposed to a 12 knot cruise speed then this could be the answer.
I'd call Brian McDonnell (the Volvo god) and have him check out the engine.
The 60B IMO is a much better power plant than the 41 series and 1500 hrs on that engine is not a lot. The tranny is either a Twin Disc 502 or a Borg Warner...both of which are sturdy heavy duty trannys.
The hull is balsa cored from the water line up. The bottom is solid glass (at least mine was).
OK, I've stuck my nose out and hope this helps someone.
Best of luck.
