Well, the decks look good. And the rail came. It will be nice when it is in place.

Gentlemen thank very much for the complements. She is coming along. My fears were elated by keel repair. That 610 is good shit. A little grinding, some 610, a little fairing compound, followed by some 1.5oz csm and some 1708 on top. A little grinding for smoothness and some bottom paint.

Harry, She either was under power and hit something, came down on something in my backyard on the bottom of the canal, or the chuckle heads in the yard this summer weren’t paying attention and placed it on a timber with a nail or bolt in it. They reblocked it a week or two ago and I found it. Therefore because of here vintage, I decided to go over the top and do it permanent and each season I’ll do another section.
Needless to say, I have gotten feed up with non commercial yards around here. They cater to a different level of clientele that I’m not part of. Because of this I have decided in the future to go talk to Charlie Hartt in West Sayville. Also, he is a decent yard owner and doesn’t fuck around. He is a commercial yard and I have been around enough to know that once you have been bite by a shark ya never let it happen twice. Haaa haaa.

The bilge. And the ring for the bow.
Over the winter I will rebuild the stringers and new engine beds for the old gal. I’ve done everything else, might as well do another improvement.

I have a question for all. If I chose to rebuild the stringers with some coosa or maybe just another section of 3/4 marine plywood and some glass.
When I get to engine beds.....????? Steal is real, but I have to say aluminum is a nicer material and easier to use. I most likely would do steel and do powder coating for ease and maintenance. 3/8 or 1/2”?

The stern looks right on. But I might add two more strips. Gotta take down the old numbers and the old name and do a quick cleaning. Some light sanding on the rails and some cleaning with spray nine.

Aluminum is better for the engine beds. No corrosion to worry about, plenty strong, easy to work with, lighter, etc, etc.

The barrier coat went on nice with three coatings, and a coat of blue ablative went as an overcoating, such a small area I figured I would do the zone blue instead of black.

Patricia Lynn: you were right, 1/2” aluminum was cheaper by $100 and the holes are the only part other than the cutting charge added to the tab.
Since the last owner cut the stringers in this old girl, I think I’ll take the winter and rebuild them on the outboard side. That way this old gal will be good and stiff.

It’s funny to think that all my credits and degrees, the most rewarding one is a pHD in bonding and fiberglass work.

Thinking of black hand grips on top of the truck cabin! Have some extra rub rail sections that would fit the purpose wonderfully. Or do I go with white hand grips?
