So I am looking for a downeast to tuna fish with. Always have run sport boats my entire life albemarles and cabos.

So is the 35 duffy as good on the hook as a skeg built boat like the h&h or is the build down better.

As far as ride correct me if I am wrong the duffy will offer a better ride in most conditions.

Any input on a 35 would be great. I keep searching for info but I don't see anyone saying why a 35 duffy is such a great boat they just say they are great.

I am looking for a high sheer duffy. I need some in deck storage.

I'm extremely happy with mine. However my experience with other downeast's is far from extensive
Ride is excellent, backing down is not too great but to be expected.
Can hold plenty of fuel for most uses.
Speed is good with power.
Could be a bit roomier, but its size also impacts it's ride.

Take one for a ride.

It is a little small IMHO. All DE boats are wet, it's the nature of a semi displacement. The 3:1 ratio boats are going to be geat in a head sea but it's a trade off for carrying capacity and room.

I agree. It is small but I run a 68 hat for someone and I think small would be nice. We go for three to four day trips so I think it is just big enough. I use to own a 28 Grady white and 3 of us fished the boat hard we pretty much where sleeping on cases of coke..

There is just two of us now sometimes 3 so I think the 35 would be just big enough.

I have also learned that most boats that ride well in the sport world tend to be wet with exception of the huge nc boats

I have done a number 3 day canyon trips on the westlake out of montauk(35 duffy). Never fealt unsafe or uncomfortable. Before eddie miller past he sold the boat i missed the purchase by 2days. Still to this day i love the boat.

I have had my 35 Duffy for over 5 years and love it. Goes into the weather really nice. Will handle nicely at 7 knots as well as cruise at 13 knots. Won't break the bank on fuel. Stable boat. Cockpit on mine is 11x11. Backing down is not great, but I have learned how to overcome that without a bow thruster. Can be wet in certain conditions, but its no big deal as I am inside. Great lines and looks!

We have thought of that but fishing a 68 hat full time like I have takes and army and there is only two of us. Plus you get that thing in any beam sea and look the f out..

Hmmmm ever time I see it it looks like its not even moving. Of course the only time I can see you is when my little boat pops up on top of wave. Then every once in awhile I see you guys walk out on deck in your Bermuda shirts and slippers with a glass of wine in your hand. :D
Sorry couldn't help it. Lol

I've been in te market and almost had a chance to buy a 37 Duffy but the guy backed out of the deal. The 35 is definitely on my short list. If I can find one in. My price range

Duffy 35/37

Are you buying or building???

Reason I ask, a good friend could have built either the 35 or 37 Duffy and he went with the 37. I am no expert on this, but if I recall correctly, the 37 pushes easier with the same power. He put a 500hp Yanmar in her and he cruises at 22kts or there abouts. There's a beauty on Yachtworld right now:

Lmao!!!

Yea but you forgot to mention watching that beast back down at 10knts with the reel screaming..

Yea that boat is for sure a rich mans ride. We go 8 knots in it and get .8 nmpg.. When the boss is on the boat it is 200 gallons an hour..

I still will fish it during the weekends with the owner aboard but I hope I can find a boat for me to buy..

That boat will move with that power. The black pulpit and tower are badass!
