I am looking to replace the rudder on my Duffy, can anyone suggest a fab shop to make a SS one? I am just south of Boston.
Thanks
Brian

I've got a stainless one I removed from my BHM (it's like new)
If it will work for you I'll sell it to you for a fraction of what you will pay LD
(expect $1300-$1500 for a new LD)
Measures
22 wide, 25-26 till
Shaft is 1 1/2, 39 long, 3/8 keyway
I will modify/ cut it to a smaller shape should you need.

Wow, I guess the price of stainless has really gone up in the last few years. My rudder was half that.

I had Turnwright machine works in Dennis MA. do mine on my 35 Duffy but price out to see who cheaper LOL is. Some things to consider are how much HP you have and if you are looking for a quiet syst. If you are or plan to have around 450HP or more and have to build one anyhow, recommend you go with a 2” rudder shaft as I was told that a few 1 ¾ standard shafts have broken on higher HP set ups. Another point is you can go thick blade and put just short posts as shown that has less drag or thin blade and full length post so when you price out compare apples to apples. My rudder was built by Kieth using AB design specs with a thin blade so when I had Kieth redo to 2” post, I had to use the full length post. Starting from scratch I would go with the short post IMO. I also added a 4’ rudder shoe that Kieth at Turnwright machine built with a removable lower delrin bearing mount that prevents a bronze to bronze chatter plus the advantage of removing rudder without having to remove the top stuffing box mount that is caulked in. I was always Leary of the stock fiberglass lower keel shoe from the aspect of strength during impact and it always flexed quite a bit when I did rudder maint so how would it act under load in the water? The shoe made it rock solid and on my power hyd syst, I had oscillation feedback issues from the high speed 1turn tower steering syst used when Harpooning that was resolved when I put the keel shoe in. The keel shoe has saved me when playing around Monomoy on a hard grounding at moon tide doing 19knts. Pics of rudder shoe and alum work done by Kieth

Thanks for all the info. The current fiberglass rudder is coming delaminated and has movement on the shaft.
