37 ft Duffy ready to be finished

37 Duffy

My buddy built a 37 Duffy with a Yanmar 500 and he gets 23 kts at cruise. It is pretty bare bones but has a nice ride.

First Team- In your opinion, what would the approximate weight RANGE of say a 38' Northern Bay basic lobster boat with one of your Sisu engines? Not a race boat, but your average 38' lobster work boat. No fuel, no personal gear. 16,000 lbs - 17,000 lbs??

Depends who finishesand how it is finished and what materials are used. 17,000 would be is a basic # to add to.

Don't know how I missed this post
I'd say you were in the ballpark, basing that on plywood deck and 2x4 supports. Might be on the heavy end of the stick a little bit but depending on transmission and drive train that weight difference could easily be absorbed.

A Northern Bay 38 that we did set up as a Sport Fish all decked out weighed in at 22, but there was more on this boat than it needed too. Gizmos and gadgets tucked into every open space we could access. Even so with 670 hp it does 36 mph.

The 37 with the Yanmar sounds like First Light out of Sesuit Harbor in Dennis, MA . That was a partial completion we did a few years back and the owner finished it off himself. The owner was very happy with the speed and performance of the hull with the horsepower that she had
