A winner!

Great hull design excellent boat. Find one with 450 to 500 HP with 250 fuel and you will have a solid platform with good speed and sea ability.

I've heard they roll a lot more than the 40' Young Brothers, but that would probably go w/ how easy they push w/ less beam.

Young Brothers

Looks tippy

Boat is very solid and steady. We were at Pemaquid races.Got caught in the wake spray rails hooked down.I have been out in some rough weather on this boat and it is very well balanced and steady!!!::D The 35' Young Brothers I had could take 100 4' foot lobster traps in one trip and fish in any weather that a 45'foot boat could fish in.I am retired now but if I were to get back into lobster fishing only boat I would consider would be a Young Brothers!!!

The 38' came in two different hulls, right? The older 38 (narrower beam) was a very pretty boat. Here's one that showed up in Block Island

There is a similar vintage that fishes out of Prospect Harbor. It is a very flat running, clean hull. But can't carry much weight.

Young Brothers

Doesnt billy's boat have an 8-92 in it, or something big like that?! I know the 38yb "Look Out" has a detroit 60 series in it.
Thats right Billy's has an 8-92 and Rusty's Look Out has Detroit 60 series.Even when Rusty had an 8-92 Billy's was faster. The Apparition II seemed to be built right!!!

38' young bros.

First year with my 38' young brothers and I couldn't be happier. Economical, nice riding, and the speed is there when you push it up. My boat was finished by flowers and the fit and finish are first class. Built in 1994 the boat looks great and is aging gracefully. I've spent the last 12 years fishing year-round out of a 30' youngsbros and now this 38'. As the ad used to say, " economical, sea kindly design, and they are fast". Thank god for young brothers boats, they bring you home.

Look Out was originally finished on Cape Cod as a harpoon boat. 8V-92 was original power. I read somewhere, I think maybe even on here, that the hull was modified because she would laid over at higher speeds with the tower on.

Also read in National Fishermen Around the Yards a few years back that the Apparition II had the decks replaced because they were waterlogged. Probably picked up a knot or two as a result....

The 38 Young Brothers that S.W.Boatworks calls the slippery is one of the most beautiful hulls made...if anyone has any pictures or knows of a old one for sale please pass the info to me...thanks
