I'm very much interested in the 46 Wesmac platform. Anyone on the forum have any first hand knowledge with buildout and finishing on the 46?

I'm specifically interested in the Hazel Browne and Kodiak buildouts with respect to engine configs (C-15? 18?) and ballpark finishing costs.

Thanks!!

What makes these boats so much money? $1,000,000 plus
. They are the Rolls Royce of downeast boats but $1mm plus.
They are beautiful and well made but why so much more than other similar size downeast boats.

With the huge amounts of skilled man hours and the expense of the lavish equipment and finish on these big boats, 1M almost sounds reasonable. The engine and trans alone is about $80,000 - $100,000. When you consider the investment that a company like Wesmac has made in land, parking lot, buildings, tools, molds, skilled crew, liability insurance, compliance with gov't regulations, advertising, taxes, workman's comp, and then some profit at the end of the year, it's amazing to me that they are able to stay in business. Until you have built a 46' custom yacht from start to finish, it's hard to appreciate the time and expense that goes into one of these beauties. It seems that Wesmac owns a huge chunk of the 42'-50' Downeast sport yacht market. I saw KODIAK in Wesmac's shop a few weeks before it was launched. What a beautiful boat, it costs a lot of money to have the biggest and the best. But Wesmac delivers the goods in spades.
