    Hi Folks,
My mixer separated from the turbo assembly. It looks like the lower flange has rusted off. There should be a flange on the lower part correct? Is the flange am integral part of the unit or if there’s a sub assembly.

My owners manual does not have a parts diagram & I can’t seem to find the part#. Can the lower Part be ordered separately or the mixer and turbo will need to be replace?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Alan

It looks like you have a 90degree riser before it goes into your water mixer. Yes, that flange is an integral part of the piece it rusted off you, you'll have to source a new one.

The real question is why did it rust off? Look inside the turbo throat. Do you see a rough, corroded surface, maybe with some yellow specs. If you do that is corrosion and rust on the turbo throat almost certainly caused by water getting up into your exhaust system.

Over time it will destroy the turbo. The fix is to redesign the exhaust with a riser with spill over point at least 12" above the water line. That is difficult to achieve on a downeaster without an engine box.

We've employed a surge tube to help with that. I think it was in a Fortier F26. Not a perfect fix but it does help. You are right it seems the motors get mounted low in several different hull types and the turbo life suffers.

Check out Marine Manifold inc in Long Island. Had them build one for me years ago for less than that. Inflation may play a part in a new price but it’s all stainless and designed right and mines still all good. Comes with a heat blanket too
