looking for information on comparing the Wesmac 50, Duffy 48 and Calvin Beal 47. Shopping for a Hull for fishing and cruising. More fishy and Yachty. Wife wants room in the salon and Cabin and I want a decent sized cockpit. Overnight plats trips and cruising the coast often.

Can anyone help me understand the differences in these Hulls? I currently own a 33 Pettegrow which we have outgrown that we have had since 2014.

Sorry for the multiple posts, trying to figure out how to post correctly. GBMaine

BRad Simmons did finish my 33 Pettegrow and did a great job. Commercial grade, very simple and low maintenance . I am looking for the same in the next vessel. He has a 50 Beal in his boat house now but he does not like to get involved with choosing Hull and designing the boats. I am considering Brad for this build as well if he wants it and have been talking to him.
I grew up in Lincoln ME and have not lived in state for 30 years other than summers. I did not grow up on the coats fishing and I do not have a lot of knowledge on the hull designs or Tuna fishing other than whtat I have learned the last five years in the summer. It's a big investment, hopefully the last one that I can enjoy into my retirement, so I am just looking for information to hopefully make the right decision. I think I have landed a on the 54 Wes mac. Still trying to decide if I should build new or wait and try and find a 46-54 that someone else has already done. Thanks for your comments.

If you are going that route I would seriously consider the Mussel Ridge 46, 48 or the 54. Either way Wesmac or Mussel Ridge, both hulls are good designs.

Have they launched and seatrailed a 50 CB yet. My only reservation with that hull is that it doesn’t have the history that Mussel Ridge and Wesmac have. That said Stuart runs a damn good shop so my thoughts are still high.

If you're talking about the one Bradley is doing Jerry, it wont be launched until 2020. They cut the 44 in half and added 6ft to it, so I'd guess it'll run well.

Did MR make a 54 mold or is that a streched 48?

I thought the 52’ MR was going to be more of a SF, the pic I saw the boat had no keel

I don’t know Jon. Is that the one and only they have put out? My spring...and now summer has been so busy I have lost track of who is building what, and with what power.

I know Jeremy's was the first they stretched to 50 because they wanted to take a mold of it, but it was already so far behind schedule it just got pushed out the door. I have no idea if any others were stretched, I've lost track since I mostly gave up on the facebook.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the MR 46 a stretched 42, where as the MR 48 is straight out of the mold? Nothing against a stretch as we've added 4 feet to and H and H with great success.

Yes the 46 is a stretched 42. The 46 Wesmac is also a stretched 42 and is more than proven in both hulls. The 48 MR is indeed a whole separate beast.

Just look at the salt shaker 50 dixson and your search is over. I have seen battle wagon (wesmac) I have seen other big 45ft plus DE boats. nothing compares in size, width or height to the Disxon. It's on another level.
