So, if I put one of these in my 36' DE, think I could cruise around 50 kts or so? Might have to raise the sheer some...

Nassco has been building that very similar plant in manyof thier new builds, it is a proven winner.

What purifiers are those? Don't look like Alpa laval. And to be that clean on 380 must have been a pic taken when it was very new......

What is the bore of the engine? Were there aux generators also or did you run 1 MAN in port for power?

Okayk, show & tell. In the words of Hooper in JAWS (during the drinking scene) "I got that beat...". GE 7FA+e gas turbine (175 Megawatts) burning #2 distillate - a LOT of it. I've often wondered why no one has tried to put a gas turbine in a DE yet. With only one moving part, should be pretty reliable - and sound really cool...

190,000 ton NASSCO SuezMax operated by ATC. I took these pictures on the ALASKAN EXPLORER. 2 engine rooms with this package in each. 4 engines into 2 variable speed electric shafts. 20 MW total.
600 bbls/day (25,000 gallons) IFO 380 @ 15 knots. This is off track for the forum but I figured we all like a clean engine room.....

How big are the fuel tanks on this "boat" ??
