So it looks like I'm finally going to buy my first DE. It'll be a project and I'll probably need to move it around I'm thinking a trailer will be necessary.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for where I could find a used trailer? I've had very little luck looking on craigslist, ebay, etc. It's OK if it needs a little TLC.

The boat is a 30' Repco. I'd really appreciate any input.

Wow that's impressive with hydraulics and all! Unfortunately it costs more than the boat I'm planning on buying :(

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of just a really simple trailer with bunks that could take a 30' and ~8-10k lb boat

Does anyone have any experience with something like that? Is it a bad idea to look at a trailer? Seems like barely anyone here trailers themselves..

Thanks a lot for your help!

Most people in my neck of the coast hire the professionals (Brownell Boatworks) to trailer anything larger than 25' with or without a keel. They use hydraulics on their trailers and can get a boat in or out of the water in short time. It might be worth $500 a trip especially if you have a slip or mooring and you only need them twice a year.

Pay a pro to haul and block it for you. Your average boat trailer would need alot of modificatons to the bunks fore and aft to fit the boat safely.... you have a huge keel on that hull.

Its probably far away from you, but this trailer would work. Talk him down and then pay someone to haul it up here for you.

and then pay again to make it fit the boat. I trailer my boat so i know a bit about it. There is a guy in Machais, Me that builds trailers, i went there and looked at his trailers not bad looking but he uses mobile home axles and wheels(hard to find parts) and after talking with a guy that had one(bearings didn't last very long) i decided to have one built by Loadmaster in Ohio. The Maine built trailer was 1/2 the price of Loadmaster so if your only going to haul it 10-20 miles the Maine trailer might be ok but i haul 100 miles each way.

That aluminum trailer looks interesting, I'll see how flexible he is with price.

steveinak, that loadmaster looks beautiful! Definitely a solid rig for long distance. I'd probably never trailer more than 20 miles though and when it's parked I can jack up the frame to take load off the axles and bearings, so that Maine trailer seems really interesting to me. (also a lot closer)
Could you give me a little more info on this guy? And what would you say is a ballpark price range to get this boat on wheels?
