Don’t know why but I’ve always been a fan of a good adage, quick words of wisdom, quotes, fair wells and hellos. Seems everywhere I’ve ever been I’ve heard another nugget that put a grin on my face.

There’s a wealth of knowledge on this forum and I’d love to hear some good ones, salty ones, dirty, whatcha got?

I’ll start up with a few that come to mind.

“Never break the law while breaking the law”
- ie don’t speed whilst limping home from the pub.

“Keep her between the ditches”

“I yam what I yam an’ tha’s all I yam”
-Popeye

“If you lend someone 20 dollars and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.”

“If your 15 minutes early you’re on time, if you’re on time you’re late.”

It's a rip tide. Don't fight it. Just swim parallel to shore. This was shared by a music instructor from NJ when dealing with challenged school administrators.

Bad decisions make good stories.

The one who stirs the shit pot should have to lick the spoon.

Yogi Berra was reportedly once noted as saying: If you come to a fork in the road, Take It!

You can fool the world in some disciplines, but the sea will slap you silly the moment you get complacent or try to bluff what you don't know. Daniel Parrott, Soundings, Aug 2016, Rite of Passage, sailing the USCG Eagle
