Advice on purchasing a boat

This will be my first boat purchase My goal is a family cruiser 24-27 ft. I am looking for a good used downeaster. I have looked at Gurnet25,Crosby Striper. Quite frankly I don,t know how to best gauge a good used boat
It will be in Boothbay Harbor region
Any advice on what I should focus on?

You need to decide on a price range then spend time looking at what fits in your budget. You'll be able to pick out the lemons from the cherries in a downeast with a little boat knowledge. Plus save some money for a good surveyer, best $1000 or so you can spend.
