Good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has purchased and installed an aftermarket tachometer? We had a tach driven off the alternator on the trawler and it was OK for accuracy but not perfect. We were also not planning on using an alternator with the extra tap. The rebuilt motor is a DD453 which can take a cable drive tach on the camshaft but isn't the best way to go for ease of installation, depending on where we put the dash. I put a simple $20 tach/hourmeter on the UTV (pickup wire is wrapped around spark plug wire) but wanted to see if there was a great, proven option out there? Thank you for your input.

I think a 453 Detroit gets a pickup mounted to camshaft and a wire to guage.

I have the cable drive setup. I'll have to check and see if I can find the wired type. Thank you for noting.
