Since some are talking about rod holders and many are highly endorsing LD
(I agree 100%)
Guys with the bigger swivels, who's got blocks glassed in reinforcing the tubes down below.
Getting close to that point as I'm looking for pictures/ideas.
Thats a LD swivel & the pin makes it a non swivel. Pull it out, back to a swivel.
Only complaint I have with my LD is most of my nylon tube inserts spin and hole doesn't line up for pin.
One insert even ended up in the drink after someone on a charter lifted a rod out of the rod holder and I guess the insert came up & out and in the drink.
4 of my swivens now have tight fitting heater hose instead of the inserts.
Thats the idea. What is that, plywood, Coosa, solid piece of glass.....
I've made comments about the Ruby Belle's high quality fit & finish.
It has 4 LD swivel 90 degree swivels across the transom and they are reinforced down below with something that looked to be a fiberglass tube about 4-5 inches in lenght and another flat piece glassing that to the transom. Beautifully done !!!
Thought I took some pictures of them but can't find them on the phone or camera.
That's a nice looking job Brian, I did that a long time ago but had one pull out on a big fish pulling broadside. SO i did this, Down and dirty but you could roll my boat over with them . 2 X 4 X 1/4" 5456 aluminum bolted Thru hull.
I made those out of a leftover piece of coring found at the build site for Emily Rose. I think it come out of the window cutouts.
First drilled a hole the size of the tube, then figured out the angle that it attaches to the hull and distance it needed to be off the side of the hull, then cutout the rounded pyramid shape on the band saw.
Afterwards Todd, the owner glassed them in and mudded them up fair before gelcoating with a roller.
