Good Morning,

Here is my situation, Relentless has a teak and holly deck in the salon down below and being a charter boat it takes a beating with all of the salt that seems to find its way in the cabin from boots etc on the charters. I just can not keep it oiled and looking good between salt and scratches.

Fred on here and in my marina turned me on to a product and I believe it is the same one called Plasteak which is mde of recycled platics and looks like teak. Marine Teak & Holly and Boat Flooring | PlasTEAK & PlasDECK

I am having an authorized installer come to the boat and price it out and know it is around $50 sq ft installed. Please give me some opinions on the stuff and the pros and cons. I look at one big plus is less maintenance in the end. Will it look as nice, maybe, maybe not.

Thanks,

Dave

I looked into this stuff, nuteak, plastideck, etc. For inside cabin areas its fine. Doesn't stain, and if it does you can supposedly "sand it out" with a block and paper. Almost pricier then REAL TEAK. Doesn't look as good as real teak. No maintenance. I wanted it for the cockpit of the bert. They will tell you no problem, but from other owner i found that after 5 or so years it fades. It's freaking HOT. If you some how F it up with a knife or screw driver, its hard to patch to make it look right. It has its purposes.

With or without the nonskid, I kind of do like that idea, but not sure you can do that, but then again, why not?

My deck is just rolled gelcoat (brushable enamel) no texture to it, wet, dry, shoes, flip flops, barefooted, no slipping. The couch does have a tendency to slide aft when the throttle is jammed forward though. If you dont have a couch on board don't worry about it. :D

I got a couch (j lounge) that had a ss frame, i welded brackets to it and bolted it to the floor. Keeps jr from surfing when i mash the throttles
