Yes there are some similarities. I was told it was a early model SeaRay that was refit into a downeast type of boat. Goes good 23 kt cruise with 7 people on board 32 kts WOT. Perfect for a charter boat. Thanks for the photo of the privateer gives me some ideas.

Seven people on that thing might be kinda tight for anything but a half day trip.

Seven including operator, only six fishing. Theres actually plenty of room with six fishing its the peoples coolers they need glued to there leg that makes it tight.:D

Talk to Old Mud.

He is the master at turning old sea rays into downeasters. :D:D:D

Time for a post on that girl.

Is he from New Bedford? He may be the one who did this one. I have to talk to him i want another one real bad. I think the guy who did this one last name is Zela.

I know i hear ya, i was looking at plowin 31BHM and i like it alot but i don't know about the 14-16 kt cruise, it scares me. I have to make a 50 mile round trip every day in the summer and going from 23kts to 16kts doesn't really work for me and my customers. I'm tryin to find a BHM that has a 18 or 19 kt cruise. Also heard from anothere lobsterman that has been around a while and he says the BHM is a little rolly. Any sugg would be appr. Thanks

One of the lucky ones.... Just sold my boat looking for another!
I hear ya there's a dozen boats I would have bought already if it weren't for the speed issue. I don't need a rocket but 14-16 won't do it... Best of luck

A Duffy would suit you better.A 31 Bhm is not the boat if your looking to go fast and economical. A friend of mine has one with a 450 and it's an 18knot boat burning a lot of fuel.

Thanks. This is the type of info I am looking for. I don't have any experience with these types of hulls so I knew this would be the best place to get reliable advice.

The BHM will get old making a 50 mile run everyday, I have been doing it for 15 years. As far as being rolly I wouldnt be so certain of that. Perhaps compared to some others it is but which ones? Lets be fair and keep the others in the 31'9" range though. In regards to economical I am considerably better than 1 mpg as most are, at least those with 2.5:1 gears and big wheels.

I hear that about the size, cause I also heard the 36 bhm is totally different story. Just think that would be a little too big for what I need.

A 31 Bhm is a bad ass boat and it's huge for its size! Rides like a tank ad plows through almost anything. A Duffy is a better all around boat then the Bhm but both are awesome boats. The Mitchell coves go pretty good as well.

A 31' BHM is pretty economical at 15 knots; less so at 18 or more. That mystery boat in the photo is a puddle jumper and would not get you much return business as a charter boat. Something to consider.
