I know crabman posted and has helped me with his install of the compass, he mounted his under the bunks and that what i'm thinking of doing but i just wonder if its not to close to my bow, it will be aprox 5-6ft from the bow. I don't really have anywhere else unless i mount it on the ceiling just above the front of the engine. Anybody got any ideas ???

Compass

General rule = as low, centered and as close to mid ship. Best spot in your boat?

I had mine aft of my engine, just to stb of center, kind of on the side of the fuel tank. There's nothing magnetic down there ,and it was low and as close to center as possible.I just had it mounted to a piece of 3/4 plywood. There was plenty of cable to reach the main brain box.

Never thought of that i'll have to look and see how small of a boy i'll have to hire to get back there :D !! I think i can find a spot back over the stuffing box if i can wiggle in there ??

That's just about where mine was on my RP,except the fuel tank was in the center and the compass was on the outboard side of the stringer.I would think that would be fine,it wont get as much movement down there. Are those two carriage bolts holding that upright galv?I would swap them out if they are.
